The odds fallacy: who really wins scholarships

It is a pretty incredible fact that every year many fantastic scholarships remain unassigned. Beyond lack of information, students underestimating their real chances of winning a scholarship may help explain it.

Have you ever wondered who wins the scholarships? If you are like most people I know, you will have at some point in your student life heard of a scholarship that you would have loved to win but have not applied for because you assumed you would not stand a chance. You may have underestimated your potential.

The GlobalCampus Partner Scholarship

Type “international scholarships” into Google. You should get about 15 million results.

If you’re a future international student, how do you find the right scholarship for study in a specific university program? How do you sort through the information to know which scholarship is right for you? If you’re a university administrator, how do you get your international scholarships to the right students? How do you get your scholarship and institution seen in a Google sea of scholarship listings?

WANTED: Global Communicators! Write for a global website and help future international students succeed!

At GlobalCampus we’re committed to giving future international students access to a variety of international opportunities. Whether these opportunities are the ability to be scouted by universities abroad, international scholarships, or information to help prepare students for the international student experience, we aim to help future international students succeed in their educational pursuits.

GlobalCampus adds scholarships for international students

One of our most exciting releases this past month has been the addition of our scholarship matching tool. When students create their profile, they are instantly matched with scholarships in our database based on their profile criteria. Currently we match students based on their citizenship, gender, age, and educational goals such as study destination, targeted subject and degree level. With millions of dollars in scholarships unclaimed each year, we aim to give international students the information they need to pursue those scholarships.

Money to help you with your higher education

Have you realized that the way we pay for higher education is the wrong way round? The money you need to pay for your degree will only come after you graduate, when you are working. In other words, you will only get the money around 5 years after you needed it most. Ironic, huh?
Some families can afford to pay for their kids to go to university while others can’t: I would like to talk about those guys who don’t have a family wealthy enough to support them financially.
