What is GlobalCampus?

Mission

GlobalCampus is a social enterprise bringing opportunities for higher education and further development to talented young people around the world.

A social enterprise is a vehicle for social change, a social mission driven organization which applies market-based strategies to achieve a social purpose.

Our idea is simple: the world is one, and if you have talent – for engineering, business, art or anything else - you should have the maximum opportunity to develop it, regardless of where you were born or how connected your family is. Because your success can benefit everyone.

Unfortunately, information about opportunities for students does not circulate well globally.

Quick facts:

  • Every year hundreds of millions of dollars of scholarships available around the world go unclaimed. Surprised? We were too. But the explanation is easy: if a college in Chicago creates a scholarship for a female African student, how are eligible candidates going to learn about it? Scholarships are not exactly advertised on Google.
  • In many countries 99% of students cannot go to university for lack of infrastructures, while in others universities struggle to fill their seats
  • Top universities and organisations rely on fairs and school visits to attract talent internationally but these only touch a tiny percentage of the student population
  • It is common for parents in developing countries to pay their savings to a broker to place their child at a foreign university. And for the university to pay again the same broker to receive the application in turn.

GlobalCampus was created to enable a free, global flow of information between students, universities and organisations - so that every student has the best opportunity for a bright future and the world benefits in turn.

Definition

GlobalCampus is a tool connecting students with universities and organisations from around the world. Students can explore, contact or be scouted by institutions that can help them realize their talent.

How does it work?

For Students:

When you join, you create a profile that summarizes your current education and your goals for the future (= what you would like to study next and where). You can then be noticed by universities and organizations looking for profiles like yours and start exchanging messages with them so they can scout you. And it’s free!

Through your student profile you can:

  • Make your profile as a student visible to institutions worldwide
  • Find and contact people who know the institutions you are most interested in
  • Favourite your preferred institutions to let them know of your interest
  • Receive alerts about scholarships around the world that you qualify for
  • Be scouted by universities and organizations
  • Ask questions about them

For Universities:

When you join, you create a profile for your institution that presents general information as well as comments from students that you may invite to contribute. You can find candidates around the world that match your needs and exchange messages with them.

Through your university profile you can:

  • Get free visibility for your institution
  • Find international students matching your requirements by nationality, education level, area of interest, language proficiency and grades
  • Contact the ones you like and invite them to a conversation
  • Run webcasts to present your institution and courses to interested candidates
  • Interview your shortlisted candidates in one-to-one video interviews
  • Post scholarships to have them automatically notified to eligible candidates
  • Post dates of upcoming events to have them notified to interested local candidates
